Dr. Gerry Moore to Speak on Difficult Plant Groups of Pine Barrens

December 13, 2012 by njflora

“Taxonomically Challenging Plant Groups in the New Jersey Pinelands”, Gerry Moore Ph.D,  January 23, 2013

Dr. Gerry Moore, the leader of the National Plant Data team for the US Department of Agriculture’s Plants Database will speak at the monthly Pinelands Research Series hosted by the New Jersey Pinelands Commission.  The Commission’s scientific staff have a wonderful monthly symposia that cover a wide array of Pinelands related scientific topics.  January’s topic will be especially of interest to Flora of New Jersey participants and all New Jersey botanists in general.  Gerry is South Jersey native and a founding member of FNJP.  Gerry advises the Project on various issues.  Gerry’s insights and depth of the topic should provide an interesting presentation.  And as we botanists know, there many plants to discuss!

John Brunnell, a friend of the FNJP, is the Science Staff program co-ordinator.  Dr. Brunnell is responsible for the research series and has provided a diverse series in 2012.  Keep and eye on the on-going science series at http://www.state.nj.us/pinelands/about/direct/ .  The talks are held in the New Lisbon, Burlington County office of the Pinelands Commission.  See the Pinelands web site for directions and more details.

The Pinelands Research Series provides a forum for scientists to present their research and is a free event that is open to the public.  It is hosted by the New Jersey Pinelands Commission.

Joe Arsenault,  FNJP 12/12
