It’s December: Time to meet our submission deadlines
As the year comes to a close it important that we at FNJP keep up with our commitments. Members who selected families and genera for the Project are requested to turn something in. The Atlas, Manual and Nomenclature committees are awaiting your draft species lists, your manual treatments and the final products to be posted on the web site as our atlas pages. Once again its the seasonal plants that seem to draw the attention of the general public to NJ's botanical treasurers. This month, the Philadelphia Inquirer featured chairperson Joe Arsenault in a seasonal article on American Mistletoe. The author, Virginia Smith, provides an enjoyable short piece describing some of mistletoe's interesting facts and myths. Chrysler Herbarium Work Days and 2012 General Meeting Dates have been Announced The end of year meeting (see October 8, 2011 minutes) determined the following dates for the herbarium work days and general meeting days. Calling All Botanists! Dr. Struwe needs Plant Materials for Fall Botany Course
Dr. Lena Struwe, Associate Professor at the Rutgers University Dept. of Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources, is teaching a botany class this fall that needs plant specimens for teaching aids. Dr. Struwe would love to have lycopods and horse tail and any other interesting plant specimens for this fall's class. The specimens need to be whole, not pressed.
